miready.
last night exam preparation planwhy i created miready
when i was in college, we used to have mcq tests quite often. most of the time i didn’t need to learn things from scratch, i just needed to revise. i used chatgpt, claude and other ai tools for that. they were great at creating practice material, but bad for actually practicing. and when you want to go through those questions one last time, good luck finding them in that long chat.
i wanted a way to practice and see how i perform on the generated questions. there were platforms like quizlet and kahoot, but they were either not free or too bloated with features, which made them hard to use for a quick revision.
so i created miready. a simple, clean platform where i can upload questions from chatgpt and start practicing.
what miready can do now
i started with a simple idea: take questions from chatgpt and practice them here. when i shared it with my friends and classmates, they started asking for more. a prompt to get the questions, explanations for the answers, and more.
saves quizzes offline
once a quiz is created, you can open it any time, even without internet.
goes straight to your ai platform
you set the topics, number of questions, difficulty and language, and miready builds the prompt for you. it uses the query parameters offered by chatgpt, claude, perplexity and mistral (le chat) to open a chat with the prompt already filled in. you can also attach your own notes and have the questions written from them.
repeats the questions
when i got a question wrong, i would read the explanation and, after completing the quiz, redo those questions to burn them into my head. i found it effective, so i added it to miready. it also repeats the questions that took me more time: anything that takes more than 1.5x your own average answer time counts as slow. review rounds keep running (up to five) until every question is answered correctly at your normal speed. that is when it counts as mastered.
results that name what you missed
not just a percentage. you get your mastered count, your average answer time, and the exact questions that needed another look, including how many times you have missed them across all attempts.
how to use it
- tell miready your topics and how many questions you want
- copy the prompt, or open it straight in your ai assistant
- paste the json it returns into miready (or upload the file) and give the quiz a name
- drill, read the explanations, and let the review rounds bring back what you missed
each question in the json has the question, its options, the correct answer and an explanation.
how i built it
the idea was simple, so i wanted to keep the stack simple too. i built it with next.js. i didn’t use any database for storing quizzes, they live on the client side in the browser’s localstorage. for styling i went with tailwind css. that sums it up. if you wanna know more, the code is open source, so check it out on github and while you are there, give it a star ⭐ too.
what it can’t do (yet)
because quizzes live in localstorage, they don’t sync between devices, and clearing your browser data deletes them. miready also doesn’t generate questions by itself yet. built-in generation is under development, and bringing your own ai will stay even after it ships.
